ETHNIC RHINOPLASTY
Ethnic Rhinoplasty is a process to reshape the nose of different ethnic heritages such as African American, Hispanic, Asian, and Middle-Eastern. The main aim of ethnic rhinoplasty to reduce the size of nose and make their face more attractive
.
With non-Caucasian nose patients the nose surgery is difficult. It is also very important to know what patient wants. The patient wants to maintain nasal features of their ethnic heritage or want a nose that tries to conform to the "norms" of the white nose. If ethnic patients want a whiter nose then it is very important to know that a "white" nose may not be in harmony with the rest of that patient's ethnic facial features.
Different techniques are needed for different ethnicities because African American and Asian patients noses need to build up the nasal bridge and narrowing the nostril base via alar base resection and to remove a wedge shaped piece of tissue where the nostril walls meet the cheeks make the nose not to look wide from the front.
Reductive techniques is required for Hispanic and Middle Eastern noses so bone and cartilage is removed to give fine shape to the nose. For hump removal, tip refinement and tip reshaping reductive techniques is used.
